Five Simple Steps to Naturally Ease Stress

stress overload

In simple terms what is stress?

Stress, is a way your body and mind cope with life. Most people think of stress as a bad thing, however, stress can also be a motivator and work in our favour.

Back in the day when we lived more on our wits, stress could be activated when we came under attack – we went into the Fight or Flight mode.

Our adrenaline would kick in, our senses were heightened and we would be fighting or running for survival….it was the kind of stress that did not last for long.

Life has changed dramatically over time and we are now faced with stressors that include, work, family, our environment and even our hobbies. Society has speeded up to a point, that in every way we turn we are faced with possible stresses. Technology, flashes passed us continually and we are bombarded by external factors every second of the day.

In our modern world we now also experience Freeze mode – this is where we are so stressed, we actually stop and do nothing…inertia takes over. Our breathing becomes shallow or worse we hold our breath completely!

How does stress affect the mind and body?

Our minds and emotions can feel very negative when we are stressed. This is because the hormone Cortisol is running continuously. We do need a little bit of Cortisol, but nothing like the levels that are caused by continuous Chronic Stress.

Prolonged stress can build up so much that we run the risk of Heart Disease, IBS, Diabetes, Skin Conditions, High Blood Pressure….or worse….

When are are stressed we may feel or experience some of the following:

  • Anxious
  • Nervous
  • Uncomfortable
  • Irritable
  • Angry
  • Forgetful
  • Argumentative
  • Intolerant
  • Brain Fog

The list of negatives goes on…..

You, the person, are no good to anyone if you are continually stressed as this will inevitably lead to burnt out. Because there is nothing left in you, how could you possibly help yourself or others.
